WorldProject
Healthcare professionals working together at Kikaya Medical Center

About us

Who we are

WorldProject is a Spanish non-profit organisation whose work in Uganda began in 2012. What started with healthcare and cooperation initiatives evolved through long-term projects on Lake Victoria and eventually into the two connected programmes at the centre of our work today: Kikaya Medical Center and Bioksanland.

Since 2012

More than a decade of learning in Uganda

WorldProject's work in Uganda began in 2012. From early healthcare initiatives in Entebbe to the long-term project developed on Zinga Island, each stage shaped the way we work today. Since 2019, our work has increasingly focused on Kikaya, where Kikaya Medical Center and Bioksanland now form the two connected pillars of the organisation.

Our philosophy

Collaboration

We work with local professionals, not for them.

Local participation

Needs are identified by the community itself.

Sustainability

Projects are designed to keep working over time.

Knowledge transfer

Skills stay in the community that develops them.

Local autonomy

Each phase increases local decision-making.

How we work

  1. 01

    Listen

    Understand locally identified needs.

  2. 02

    Build together

Design practical solutions together with local professionals.

  3. 03

    Transfer knowledge

Strengthen skills, infrastructure and local leadership.

  4. 04

    Build for independence

Work toward projects that can increasingly sustain themselves locally.
